Businesses and schools were closed throughout the area on Monday, February 23 due to a massive snowstorm that hit the area.

Indoor Softball: Lo Maduro 22 Nightshift Misfits 8

La Maduro topped the Nightshift Misfits 22-8 in an indoor softball match on Tuesday night at the United Sports center in Downingtown, PA.  La Maduro got off to a strong start, taking an early 9-1 lead.  The Nightshift Misfits were able to respond and cut the lead to 9-5, but from that point on La Maduro took full control of the game.  

The loss dropped the Nightshift Misfits to 1-1 on the season after winning their week 1 game against the league House Team, 18-14.  

Extreme Cold Comes to the Region

The weekend of February 7-8 brought extreme cold temperatures to the Philadelphia area.  The high temperatures were in the low 20s throughout the days and hit single digits at night.  There was a howling wind that brought a significant wind chill.  There were advisories issued for people and pets to stay indoors and to avoid extended periods outside. 

Cold Spell Continues Throughout the Area

Over the past week, there has been an arctic chill that has enveloped the local area, with temperatures almost entirely remaining below freezing.  For that reason, the snow from last week's winter storm has not melted yet.

Trail for Dogs in the Snow at Teegarden Park

Winter Storm Fern covered the local area with about a foot of snow a week ago, and bitterly cold temperatures during the past week have prevented it from melting.  That, however, hasn't stopped locals from taking theirs dogs to Teegarden Park in Berwyn.  People have created a trail that goes from one end of the park to the other, enabling dog owners and their canine friends to continue enjoying the off-leash dog park even while the area has a huge layer of snow and ice on top of it.
